Our country will pause as one people on November 11 to pray for and remember our Veterans. Throughout our history the men and women of the United States have answered our call to duty. They have left their communities, their small towns, their farms, their rural homes, their big city environment to respond to their country’s needs.
They have left behind loved ones and friends to serve. They have sacrificed time, comfort and money to offer their service to our country. Dwight D. Eisenhower told our troops on D-Day in 1944 “The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.” Those words are as true today as they were so many years ago.
Our hopes and prayers have always gone with our Veterans as they marched into conflict. As we pause to honor them today, let us give thanks to our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they make for us.
