I Voted No

I wanted to update you quickly on why I voted no on the Democrats health care bill.  With unemployment over 10 percent, the worst thing we could do is raise taxes on small businesses and create a government-run health care program.

People are fed up with reckless spending coming out of Washington.  They want health care reform that lowers the cost of health insurance -- not expands the size of government.

Instead I voted for an alternative bill that would allow insurance to be sold across state lines, establish high-risk insurance pools and limit frivolous lawsuits.

This bill would not raise taxes, cut Medicare for seniors, or expand government. Nor would it offer insurance to illegals.  In fact, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said this plan would lower premiums by as much as 10 percent, making health insurance $5,000 less expensive than under the Democrats’ plan.   It would also reduce the deficit by $68 billion dollars.

Medicare is the best thing that ever happened to seniors, with the exception of Social Security, which was even better.

Funny how two "government run" programs could make such as postive difference in so many lives.

Thank you for voting NO. My professional organization, American Nurses Association has been supporting this thing and its rediculous. I was outraged when they supported Obama during the election. Amerians are behaving like that 3rd grade class that votes for their class president because s/he promised everyone icecream sundaes without any logical ideas about delivery. Its embarrassing. Thanks again!

    Congressman,

Why can't Liberals who vote for Democrats see the scam against this once great nation that the liberals are attempting to shove down our throats? Are they blind, too stupid to realize what's going on, or just want the government to be spoon feed everything in their lives?

Why don't you and the rest of the Republicans point the people out that voted for this and vocally call them TRAITORS? Because that is what they really are. The founding fathers of this nation must be crying.

    Senator Buchanan,
Thank you for your due diligence in researching the health bill and looking out for the people.

PelosiCare passed by the House and this citizen is appalled! Congressmen are sworn in to protect and defend the Constitution! Where in the Constitution does it say that citizens can be forced - under penalty of law - to buy Health Insurance, or anything else for that matter? The people have had enough and the Political Class who has used our tax dollars to get themselves elected and reelected are heading for extinction.

Thank you for your common sense and level headed approach. I cannot understand why others in Congress, regardless of party affiliation, continue to lead our country headlong into financial oblivion, just to put their name on a footnote in history. $787 Billion of pork, payoff, and patronage, failing to fix or repair the economy, Trillion dollar health care in the face massive unemployment, and irresponsible, financially crippling environmental change laws that favor everyone but the taxpayer are all outrageous, astoundingly stupid and disastrous. If allowed to continue, WE, the American Republic, will be the footnote in history.

You're on the correct side of this argument. This is yet another attempt by Liberals, at deception. We're to believe that their motives are altruistic...to cover those uninsured with health care. Yet in their "plan" to do so, this means government taking over yet another 1/6 of our nation's economy....when govt spending is already at 50% of GDP. This is a power grab, pure and simple. This must be stopped!
